Summer Holiday Workshops and Courses in Colchester

With the school holidays fast approaching, we’re excited to be running a variety of fun, creative and exciting workshops throughout the summer at Signals – right in the heart of Colchester. From building your own robots at our Tech Camp, to directing your first cinematic masterpiece at our Film Camp – we have a huge variety of summer holiday workshops, see our summer listings below.


Video Games with Scratch (9+) Friday 4th August, 10am – 3pm

Roman themed video games

Make your own 2D video game using scratch software and create your own custom game controller. Scratch is the perfect way to learn the basics of programming, allowing you to make simple 2D arcade games and share them online (via the scratch website) or pop your them onto a USB.

Tech Camp (9+) Wednesday 9th – Friday 11th August, 10am – 4pm SOLD OUT

Design, program and build your own robots using Raspberry Pi and Arduino micro controllers. Across the three days you’ll learn about robotics from design to construction, solving challenges we’ll set you along the way. No prior programming knowledge required, just an interest in robots and computers.

Film Camp (11+), Wednesday 16th – Thursday 17th August, 10am – 4pm

Our two-day camp gives young aspiring flimmakers a fantastic opportunity to learn the process of making a film, including; scriptwriting, storyboarding, set design, cinematography, special FX and editing.

Claymation (7+) Friday 18th August, 10am – 1pm

Character building with plasticine

Build a set, mould characters out of clay and create an animation using stop motion techniques. Design your own Shaun the Sheep episode, or plan the next Chicken Run movie!
