For the Suffolk Director of Public Health’s Annual Report 2019, groups of children and young people were asked what they thought about different aspects of growing up in Suffolk.

Integral to the report was the accompanying short film produced in conjunction with Signals and Public Health Suffolk, to capture what Suffolk children and young people think about four topics; Friends and Family; Feelings; Fit and Healthy and Future Hopes and Dreams.

This year, the focus of the report is children and young people in Suffolk – Suffolk through a child’s eyes. The written report captures some of the latest data and evidence related to children and young people. However, the integral part of this year’s report is the accompanying animated short film where Signals captured what Suffolk children think. Going into various communities and capturing young peoples stories and voices, Signals then produced the animation which visualises the findings of the report through further evidence gathering. We listened to what they have to say about: Friends and Family; Feelings; Fit and Healthy and Future Hopes and Dreams. We used stop motion animation and hand drawn animation to encourage children to express how they feel by creating their own characters, artwork and stories.
