Join artist Lora Aziz on a guided forage around Colchester where you’ll learn to identify common plants and their different uses around the world, such as fabrics and dyes. We’ll then use these foraged items to animate with, under the guidance of Signals’ expert animation tutors – experimenting with how to tell stories with found objects through animation.
This workshop is part of Signals’ Peoples of Essex project, a three-year project from Signals identifying and documenting the contribution made to Essex by migrant communities throughout history, past and present.
This workshop is suitable for ages 11 and upwards, all children must be accompanied by an adult. No previous animation or foraging experience is required. All equipment and resources supplied by Signals.
About Lora Aziz
Lora’s practice embraces interests in wildcrafting and plant medicine. She shares her research by re-narrating, researching and reviving the wisdoms of the environment, through engaging practical uses both traditionally and digitally. Landscapes and the world of plants they are home to can be hard to navigate, so her creative practice takes an inclusive, collective and accessible approach.
