Experiment with weaving using fabric scraps and discover Colchester’s cloth making past with our fun and free drop-in activity.
Between 1351 and 1367, over 100 immigrants from Flanders (modern day northern Belgium) settled in Colchester, and 27 of these helped create a thriving textile industry which Colchester became internationally renowned for. This workshop celebrates that history and forms part of our Peoples of Essex project, a three-year project identifying and documenting the contribution made to Essex by migrant communities throughout history, past and present.
This workshop is suitable for all ages, all children must be accompanied by an adult. All equipment and resources supplied by Signals.
