Join us for a walk around Fingringhoe Wick Nature Reserver for World Listening Day #WLD2018. We’ll listen to bird song, insects and even underwater, exploring and identify the various vocal inhabitants of Essex’s oldest nature reserve. This years World Listening Day theme is Future Listening, so we’ll be asking the question “what does your future sound like”?
We’ll bring a selection of microphones with us, so we can explore the smallest sounds of bugs and insects and also an underwater microphone allowing us to hear the soundscape hidden in plain sight beneath the water.
PLEASE NOTE: This workshop takes place at Fingringhoe Wick Nature Reserve. Signals will be taking participants in a taxi from our studio in central colchester at 4.30pm, therefore you should be at Signals for this time. If you are not able to get to Signals for 4.30pm the transport may leave without you. The workshops finish at 8pm and a taxi will bring participants back to Signals for around 8.30pm. Please tick the box on the booking form if you want to travel with us.
Over the next 12 months we’ll be running a variety of workshops for young people aged 11-25 at Fingringhoe Wick Nature Reserve, exploring some of the stories from the nature reserve through photography, filmmaking, video games and more. Thanks to funding from Heritage Lottery Fund its all FREE!
