Colchester Film Networking is a series of seminars and networking events aimed at local filmmakers, actors, film financiers and film marketing specialists, whether you’re on the hunt for cast and crew for a new project, or looking to explore your financing and marketing options, this is the perfect time and place to discuss all your current and future projects with a drink in hand and some great company.
For this first session we welcome director Jane Gull (My Feral Heart) and DOP Alisdair Livingstone (Drowning in Plastics, Panorama). The evening will be hosted by Jamie Weston from Signals and Julien Mery from Film Suffolk.

Jane Gull’s debut feature film My Feral Heart (2017), became the UK’s most successful ‘cinema-on-demand’ film of all time, in partnership with OurScreen. It earned Jane a BIFA long-list nomination for debut director and won best director and film at the Lift-Off Awards. The world premiere was at Cinequest in the US and picked up the audience choice award for best drama and lead Steven Brandon won several awards worldwide. It was included in Mark Kermode’s 2016 Film Review, describing it as “richly rewarding” and “beautifully directed”. Having started her career as an actress, the UK Film Council helped Jane to write and direct her first film Together Alone. She has written, directed and produced several acclaimed shorts including the multi award winning Sunny Boy, acquired by CH4 and ARTE TV.
Alisdair Livingstone has worked on a range of formats and genres, from music videos to commercials and TV formats to dramas. His recent credits include Director of Photography for the BBC documentary Drowning in Plastics, and Channel 4’s Superfoods series. He is also a qualified drone operator in both the UK and the US.

Over the next 6 months Colchester Film Networking will present talks covering; producing, directing, acquisitions and distribution, what film festivals look for, copyright law, moving from short films to features, creating productions for broadcast and much more.
Each session will feature two presentations, with one guest from outside the area and another highlighting local talent. There will also be networking activities, so make sure you bring plenty of business cards.
