Join Signals this summer at Fingringhoe Wick Nature Reserve for a series of FREE creative workshops documenting the reserve through a variety of art forms and encouraging young people to respond to the outdoors.

As part of our The Year project, over the next 12 months we’ll be running a variety of projects for young people (11-25yrs) at Fingringhoe Wick Nature Reserve, exploring some of the stories from Essex Wildlife’s oldest nature reserve through photography, filmmaking, animation, video games and more. Thanks to funding from Heritage Lottery Fund its all FREE!

Improve your wildlife photography skills with a FREE masterclass workshop from award winning photographer Russell Savory. Gain a better understanding of digital photography techniques and how to capture that perfect moment in the wild.

Wildlife Filmmaking, 16-25

FREE wildlife filmmaking workshop with acclaimed cameraman Russell Savory. Learn all about wildlife filmmaking techniques and how to capture that perfect moment in the wild. Russell Savory is an acclaimed wildlife photographer and filmmaker, regularly featuring on BBC Spring Watch and The One Show.

Evening Listening Walk, 11+

Join us for a walk around Fingringhoe Wick Nature Reserver for World Listening Day #WLD2018. We’ll listen to bird song, insects and even underwater, exploring and identify the various vocal inhabitants of Essex’s oldest nature reserve.

Come and learn how to draw flora and fauna using coloured pencils at Fingringhoe Wick Nature Reserve. On this FREE workshop you’ll explore the reserve and learn to illustrate the flowers, plants and insects you find using coloured pencils. From the very basic first steps of drawing, through to choosing the right colours and then using them to create beautiful and amazing results.

Discover, explore and conserve wild places. Over four days you’ll learn to connect with, enjoy, and care for Fingringhoe Wick Nature Reserve. Share the experience through photography, filmmaking and even video game making.

Wildlife Game Jam, 11+

Create fun and interactive video games inspired by the stories, animals and landscape of Fingringhoe Wick Nature Reserve. Begin the day learning about the animals and environments of Fingringhoe Wick, and then make awesome 2D games using Scratch or Construct 3 based on what you’ve just learnt.
